This page provides information on how to become involved with the Smeal College Co-op and Internship Program.
Internship / Co-op Program
Internships and co-ops are a great way to earn and learn. You can earn money, credit, and increased marketability for the permanent job search while learning more about a specific field and applying classroom knowledge in a corporate environment. Sixty percent of interns accept full-time jobs at the companies where they have interned. This year more than 600 students completed one or more internships/co-ops.
Using Symplicity (Letter of Intent/Video)
Symplicity is the online job posting system in which you will have the ability to search for open co-op and internship positions in business. You'll want to register to use the Symplicity system early in your college career so that you can start to view open positions and think about your future career aspirations. Here you will find an orientation video for viewing and a letter of intent to use the job search system. You'll also find a handbook on usage of the system.

Grad School
Attending graduate school, either immediately after graduation or after a few years of work experience, is an option that many students consider part of their career development. If you are considering a profession such as law, medicine, or college/university teaching where education beyond the baccalaureate level is required, going immediately after graduation would probably be your choice. Other programs, such as M.B.A. degrees, encourage potential students to experience the workforce for as many as three years prior to enrollment.
Campus Career Resources
Whether you're a business student at the Harrisburg or Hazleton campus, you'll find resources on your campus to prepare you for your co-op or internship search as well as your future career questions.
